How to Transfer My Domain to WordPress

  Ok, so I purchased a domain name through wordpress a year ago. Since then, it has expired, and WordPress says I need to pay $26 to renew it. Now that it is expired, I know I can purchase it through Godaddy.com for $0.99. If I get the domain from Godaddy.com, will I be able to transfer it to wordpress?

  No, you wouldn’t be able to transfer the domain to WordPress.com, but you could map it to a WordPress.com site for $13/year: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  the $26.- should be for three items, Domain Registration $5.-/yr, Domain Mapping $13.-/yr (which you need if you want to use it for your blog here) and Private Registration $8.-/yr.

  I suspect the $0.99 Registration is some sort of first year loss leader and might be connected to you getting hosting from Godaddy. So best to read the fine print
