how to transfer website content

    Hi,

    I’ve just transferred my domain to godaddy.com and subscribed with wordpress.com hosting with the mapping service. Do I need to create a new website under that domain name in wordpress.com? Can I transfer the website content to wordpress.com from my previous hosting company which was wix.com?

    You need a free WordPress.com address to which you can map your domain. If you have already bought the mapping upgrade you should already have a free WP.com address (e.g. mysite.wordpress.com). If not, click on My Sites in the admin bar and register a new free blog. Your custom domain will be mapped to that address, and your content will be hosted at that address even though your custom domain will appear in visitors’ browsers.

    Can I transfer the website content to wordpress.com from my previous hosting company which was wix.com?

    The only way to import content is via an XML file. Unfortunately WIX has no facility to export your content in that format, so you’ll first need to import your WIX feed to another service like Blogger and then export an XML file from there.
