How to transition from wordpress.com to wordpress.org
-
So after doing some research, too late it seems, I think I need to transition from the wordpress.com premium site I have to wordpress.org. I would like to build the site into an ecommerce site and I have purchased a plugin to send my etsy shop onto my wordpress site and have learned that it isn’t possible with my current site. Am I correct?
If I do need to switch, Is there any way to transition smoothly? Do I have to redo everything I have created (there isn’t much but it would be nice to not have to start completely from scratch…)? I understand that I’ll more then likely lose the $99 I already paid to you all, but would like to know what I should do to switch.
Thanks!

Howdy,
Yes, if you’re looking for e-commerce solution, at this time, WordPress.org is a better fit for you in most cases.
There are two options—the do-it-yourself route and the Guided Transfer route.
Guided Transfer is an one-time purchase from WordPress.com where our team will move everything over to a WordPress.org as close as possible (as there are a couple of minor differences between the platforms). More details can be found at http://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/
Alternatively, our do-it-yourself guide is at http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
The DIY route would basically copy over your posts and pages, you’ll still need to re-configure the “look” yourself. Our Guided Transfer team would take care of that for you, if you go that route.
If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know.
Cheers!
