How to try out WP as my e-commerce platform
-
Hi,
I want to start a webshop, and I have my own domaine name and a WordPress Theme that I want to try out to see if it fits my needs. Is it possible to import an existing WP theme into the free version and play around with the layout before I commit fully to the WP Business plan?
Best regards,
Louise

Hi there,
Is it possible to import an existing WP theme into the free version and play around with the layout before I commit fully to the WP Business plan?
No, it isn’t, uploading custom themes is restricted only to the Business Plan. However, should you purchase the Business Plan and cancel it within thirty days, you will receive a full refund. You can treat this similar to a free trial.
Note: You only have 48 hours to cancel a domain if you wish for a refund, so I wouldn’t recommend transferring your domain until you’re certain you wish to be with WordPress.com.
How to try out WP as my e-commerce platform
There are multiple ways to sell things on WordPress.com, both for the Premium and Business Plan if you’re interested.
You can use Simple Payments, which require either the Premium or the Business Plan: https://en.support.wordpress.com/simple-payments/
Alternatively, if you have the Business Plan, you can install a custom plugin to sell things, with the most popular being WooCommerce. The Business Plan also has access to the Store feature: https://en.support.wordpress.com/store/
Every plan can use PayPal though: https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/

Let me know if you have any further questions! :)

Hi,
As described on this Plan Page https://wordpress.com/pricing/, you should subscribe a WP Business Plan to upload theme on WordPress.com platform.
If you want to test your theme, you can try to deploy it on the self-hosted WordPress.org platform. https://wordpress.org
