How to turn my blog into a page?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi

I have read that I can turn my blog into a subpage of my website using WordPress.com but how do I do that?

At the moment my blog appears if I click on the name of the blog but not as one of my pages in the menu I have created. How do I amend that?

Further, I have created a page called ‘Home’ but it is not the same as my blog. What I mean by that is that often when you click on the logo or name of a random website you are directed to ‘Home’ of that particular website. In this case I am directed to the blog if I click on the name which is not the same as when I click on the page I have named home. How can I make them the same?

Thanks in advance for any help given.

Where did you read that? Do you mean a subdomain instead?

That’s normal. Creating a page called “home” does not turn that page into your actual blog’s homepage. To create a “Home” tab that takes you directly to your actual homepage, create a custom menu instead.

    Hi
Thanks for the reply. I read it on http://en.wordpress.com/features/ under the heading ‘Not just a blog’. It states that I “can even create an entire web site using pages on WordPress.com, with a custom home page and your blog as one of the sub-pages”.
I know how to add pages and move them around, as well as creating a menu. However, if I want my blog to stay a blog with posts etc. but I want it to appear in my menu as a ‘page’ that I can click on as if it iwas a normla page. How do I do that?

The second thing I am trying to understadn is how to make the page in my menu called ‘Home’ tha same as when I am clicking on the name of my ‘website’. At the moment when I click on the ‘home-tab’ the URL says the name of the website but with /home/ at the end. If I click on the name of the website it just says the name with .com at the end, which happens also to be my ‘blog-page’. How do I make my home-tab be the same URL as the current name of the website?

Hope it makes sens what I mean.

For the first paragraph, just use a WP blog and make a lot of pages, making one of them your landing page, so when people come to your site they see first of all your static introduction page. You can still blog, just call the blog part Blog or something in your Custom Menu.

For the second, under Settings->General you need to select the static landing page you want to be your “home” page.

    Hi Raincoaster

Thanks for the reply. If I make any of the tabs in the menu my ‘Home’ page or static landing page, will it not have /home/ at the end of the URL?

Further, how can I give the blog a name in my Custom menu? At the moment I can’t find it in my menu. I can only find the pages I have created and the only way I can reach the WP blog is by pressing the name of the WP blog.

Ok. I have managed to add my WP blog to the menu so it shows as a seperate tab. But I am not sure how to make the URL of the WP blog be the same as my ‘home’ page.

I have created a static landing page but it says ‘/home/#’ at the end of the URL. Still if I click on the name of the WP blog it takes me to the blog itself which now also exists as a seperate tab in the menu as explained above.

Now take this randomly chosen WP blog: http://dlengphotographyblog.wordpress.com/ The URL of the ‘home-tab’ in the menu is identical with the name (i.e. ‘d. leng photography) of the WP blog itself when clicking on it, namely: http://dlengphotographyblog.wordpress.com/
