How to UNDO Domain Mapping?

  • Unknown's avatar

I made a huge error by mapping a domain/buying a domain here now I cannot have a free hand in my own domain. I wanted to upload themes for my site, I have learned that I have to get my own web host and install the software from wordpress.org. The best thing to do now is undo the domain mapping and then point my domain to a web host. how do i do that?

    Options > Domains
Login to the control panel, change the Nameservers to those your new host says you need.
Back in your blog ‘put blog here’ at your wordpress.com address
    That’s it.

I am having issues with this – I now want to host my new updated blog on blogger. I have changed all the settings on godaddy (deleting the references to wordpress), but it still redirects to the wordpress blog. Can’t I just delete the nonwordpress domain?

    what is the control panel??!?

The control panel (in your case) is with GoDaddy. Change the name servers for your domain that is now pointed to ns1.wordpress.com, ns2.wordpress.com and ns3.wordpress.com to the blogger name servers. That will get the domain name pointing over to Blogger to get you going.
