How to undo plugin installation

  • Unknown's avatar

Recently installed ‘WooCommerce’ plugin on my site and am now unable to access any of my published pages, menus, etc. My current URL returns the following error ‘
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_create_nonce() in /home/joyfuljoints2016/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 1446′

I’m hoping that we can determine what happened and/or revert my site back to the original state prior to installing the ‘WooCommerce’ plugin. Any help you can provide would be great!

  • Hi

This forum is only for support on WordPress.com hosted sites, which do not support WooCommerce, so it sounds like you have a self-hosted site.

Check out the self-hosted WordPress (also known as WordPress.org) support forum at https://wordpress.org/support/ for additional help.

In short, if you and/or your website host have a backup of your website, you should be able to revert to before you installed WooCommerce. Or, if you have FTP access to your files, you can remove the WooCommerce plugin from the wp-content/plugins folder.

To learn more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org (self-hosted), take a look at http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hi Melinda, and thank you for your rapid response – it was enormously helpful! The GoDaddy support technician was able to disable the plug-in that was causing the problem and my website was up again within a few minutes. What a relief! I never would have thought to call them had you not given me that information.

I am grateful for your help, Melinda, and wish you an auspicious New Year.
