how to ‘unreserve’ usernames and url

  • Unknown's avatar

I was trying out different names for my blog and was confused by how to make the username and URL match. So when they didn’t, I thought I might’ve missed checking off a box. I didn’t know how to remedy this, so I changed my username (the one I wanted to keep) to something else, hoping I could next go back and again revert it to the name I actually wanted. In the process, I missed the warning. Is there any way to free up my previous username and URL from being reserved? I’m pretty certain it’s my own previous attempt that’s now locking me out of the name and URL I wanted. Please help :(

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Usernames and site addresses don’t need to match. The username is your personality as the author on your blog. The site address is the blog’s name. There’s no way at all to get back a previous username, but a discarded site address can be restored within 30 days.

Is there a recently deleted site address you’d like restored? Share the site address, if so. Tag this topic with modlook to have staff restore the URL. (https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question)

I’d like to restore blacksheeptrips.wordpress.com to my account (currently, blacksheeprun.wordpress.com )

  • Hi –

It’s not possible to register blacksheeptrips.wordpress.com because the account that it was reserved for, has now been deleted.

If you registered and deleted the account, blacksheeptrips, then we can help you get that account restored.

If that wasn’t your account there’s no way to get that site registered though.

In order to restore the account we need you to write back to us directly in the email that was sent after the account was deleted. Please write back telling us it was an error.
