How to update the email notifications to subscribers

  • Unknown's avatar

Each time I publish a post, an auto mail is sent to all my subscribers. I want to update the email content as I want to add a picture on it. Actually, the email was sent with the first rows of my post text, but I also want to add the first picture.
    How can I do that?
    Thanks

You can’t update a notification that has already been sent. You would have to write a new post.

In your Reading Settings, if you’ve opted for summary of your new posts, only your first 55 words are included in the email sent to followers.

For each article in a feed you can select Full text or Summary. Full text means that the entire contents of a post are included in the feed. Summary means that only the first 55 words are included in the feed, along with the option to continue reading the rest of the post.

Which option to use is a matter of some debate. Visit Problogger’s view for some more information. This setting also affects what your followers see in their Reader, and receive in their email subscriptions.

    Thanks for your response.
I think I didn’t express correctly on what I want, my English is not as good as I want.
I know I can’t update what was already sent, but I want to modify the notifications for future.
Each time I publish a new post an email is sent to all my followeres, is there a way to change the format of that email so for future posts, followers can receive the email notification with a new format?

What I really want is to include a picture in the email notification sent to my followers each time I publish a new post.
If you enter into my blog (https://mividaenundulce.wordpress.com/), you will see that for each post I have like a summary, which include a picture, and after it, I have the “continue reading –>” command, so what I want is to include all that section in the email notification to followers, is that possible?
    Thanks

Hi again, if you read the Support doc I linked to above, your choices are Full Text or Summary. If you don’t want the Summary, you can change the setting to Full Text. There is currently nothing in between those two options.

Another possibility is using an external newsletter like MailChimp instead of the newsletter that WordPressdotcom automatically generates according to your above setting and sends out. You would need for your existing subscribers to sign up with the new service as it is not possible to export the subscriber list.

So in other words, there is no way to change the template of the email that goes to subscribers.
Thanks, that is what I need to know.
