How to upgrade site/other tech issues
-
I’m looking to ugprade my website to a business plan to receive tech support.
To edit my work site (www.reedcitygroup.com) I am still using the old wp-admin method. There is no option to upgrade the site plan, as there is on the newer versions of the site.
When I go to WordPress.com, and want to log in using my credentials to how I log into reedcitygroup.com, its as if it doesnt exist. The only way to edit and log into the site is through wp-admin.
On my personal blog, I have the ability to do this to upgrade my plan and edit on what is the “new” platform. With Reedcitygroup.com, I do not have the ability to change many items, or upgrade the plans, etc. I can not add reedcitygroup.com on “my sites” because WP thinks it doesnt exist. If I could log into my reedcitygroup.com account on wordpress.com, I would be able to do all of what I need, but cant. I obviously cant call support because I dont have it, but also cant file a support claim on the forums from that page, because I cant log in. And cant purchase support because of the preceding errors.
Thanks!
Thomas

When I am on Reedcitygroup.com, my work site, and go to support, it takes me to wordpress.com, and prompts me to log in, and I am unable to. I am only able to post on the support forums via my personal blog which is accessible through wordpress.com.

That is because reedcitygroup.com is hosted at GoDaddy not here at WordPress.com.
If you want to move to WordPress.com you’ll need to create a new site here, export the content on your existing site, import the content here, purchase a Business plan and map or transfer your domain to the new WordPress.com site. -
That makes a lot of sense. Something I was unaware of. Thank you!
Its awfully restrictive and unusable ( I didnt create the site, but took over the role for managing it).
For example, I want to edit a header image, but it just doesnt appear to be editable. Along with various pictures. Would you happen to know how to edit a header picture on an individual page and change the pictures on that page? The buttons dont seem functional. I am an admin on the page.

You’d need to contact the correct support forum for the software your site uses. There may be a forum specific for the theme your site uses too.
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Here at WordPress.com a customised version of the wordpress installation is used so things may work differently. -
Thats what I figured, but thats also what I dont know. The site uses a custom theme created by someone many years ago. Not sure on the software.

We aren’t going to be able to help here. But, there is help from the community available to you at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ You’ll need to sign in to the WordPress.org account (and if you don’t have one, start one now). Post there for further guidance and help with the theme.
