how to upload .htm images?

  • Unknown's avatar

I did try to search the forums as this must have been asked before, but couldn’t find anything, maybe I didn’t use the right search terms…
I am trying to upload some images into a post that were sent to me by a blog reader…they are .htm images, sent as email attachments and got saved as “temporary internet files” on my computer. I have no idea what this means. Is there a way to upload them? or provide a links to them (that don’t go through my computer—the “internet” address seems to be my own files)?
    Thanks for any help!

You can’t upload htm files. You have to upload them in one of the approved files, jpg, png, etc. If you don’t know how to convert the files, have your friend email them to you but AS ATTACHMENTS, not in the email itself. Then you should be able to save them to your files and upload them.

Thanks raincoaster, I’ll try to find out about converting them. They actually were sent as attachments, but they came as htm files anyway. They are computer or maybe web-generated images of a kind of chart that the reader made to display patterns.
    Thanks for the info!

If you can open the files on your computer you should be able to do a screen shot save and then edit the screen shot and save as a jpg etc – you might loose some resolution but usually it works.

Thanks auxclass! That’s exactly what I just ended up doing, which worked great after I figured out how to edit out the extraneous material in the screen shot…I didn’t need fantastic resolution, it was just for some simple tile-like charts, the screen shot was perfect…ended up as a bmp file (I think?) but anyway it uploaded fine.

If it uploaded fine, it wasn’t a bmp. Those aren’t allowed here.

You’re right–I checked and it’s a png, whatever that may be!

That’s the best one: it means if it gets resized, the details will still be legible.

Glad it worked out – good luck
