how to upload images

  What’s the magic move to get my images to post?
  It was tricky the first time, then I did not post image for awhile and forgot how it was done. I go to “edit post” and upload the image, then “publish post”. Then I go to the blog to view result and image is not there, only text. When I go back to “edit” again image seems to be there. What’s the magic move?
