How to upload photos faster?

Is there any way I can get photos to upload faster? I use a Mac and iPhoto. Timed an uploading photo and it was 4.5 minutes. I’m sure when I first uploaded a photo just a few days ago it was much faster. I did try using the Flash uploader and that seemed just as long.

Uploading photos is fine – takes seconds. Maybe it’s your connection – speeds fluctuate widely throughout the day and night. The fact that it has been faster would tend to rule out low memory. Or are you uploading enormous files? Large files, pretty obviously, will take longer than small ones. Often a lot longer, and it’s always a good idea to resize large photos before uploading.
My camera, for example, generates images of 23MB or more. For blog use I shrink these to under 1 MB, which is perfectly adequate for blog use. Jpeg files are favourite, too.
