How to upload pictures effectively?
-
I have just uploaded a picture from my hard drive. However, the picture looks so out-of-proportion and I’m unable to resize it. (http://sitework.wordpress.com) Furthermore, as I was looking for the picture that I wanted to upload, the picture file in my hard drive appears only as a number. I had to double-click and open up different jpeg.files to see what the picture inside actually looks like. When I finally found the right one, I had rename the file no. into something more meaningful and then browse to this filename before uploading. Is there a more efficient way to upload a picture and make it look presentable in my blog? Thanks for any tips. (If you are giving any instructions, please make it step-by-step)

G’Day
I see you two haven’t found the FAQs yet.
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/how-big-can-my-images-be/
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/08/optimise-your-images/
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/16/how-do-i-upload-pictures/
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/29/i-cannot-upload-images/P.S. If your are using the visual rich text editor then once the image has been uploaded you can simply click on it and drag a corner to re-size it.

In addition, the visual editor doesn’t work properly on Safari, but can be turned on for other browsers by going to your Admin => Users => My Profile and checking the box for Visual Editor.

The FAQ don’t seem to address how I can view my desired pictures and upload easily (without double-clicking each file to see what it contains inside). Maybe if you (or WordPress staff) can show what the pictures look like for each different uploading option, that would be clearer. Is there a way to reach WordPress support directly? They always seem out-of-reach.

3 Ways actually!
1) Feedback through your admin area
2) Support tab in this forum
3) Email to support at wordpress.comTrent

same old problem: uploading photos from hardrive and photos are HUGE…
tried to resolve by figuring it out myself and referred to above FAQ’s …issue: still unable to resize photos…i’ve been working on this for several days now, i’ve looked at the links recommended by wordpress, i’ve looked through all the Help indexes on iphoto…my system is Mac X (10.4.10)
are there any Mac users out there that can help me?

Sign up for Flickr. The free account allows you to have 100 photos. It automatically resizes the photo in different ways. You can pick the one you want to use and it’ll provide the HTML code needed to link back to the full size picture. My blog takes advantage of this functionality. It also keeps you from using up your WordPress space. If you want unlimited photos, it’s only $25 a year for the Pro account. I’ve paid for 2 years already. The good thing about it is you can use them anywhere, not just on WordPress.
