How to Upload Posts from my PC to my Worldpress.com blog?
-
Hello,
I am just discovering WordPress.
I have signed up for a blog and written a couple of test posts on it.
Then I found out I could download WordPress and install it on my PC for testing, editing, etc. on my PC instead of doing it online. My question is how do you upload posts that you’ve written (yes, the posts you’ve written and not images or other types of documents) on your PC blog to the blog you have already on wordpress.com?
For some reason, I just can’t find the answer to this question anywhere. Maybe it can’t be done?
I have already checked out forums and Codex, etc. on Export, Import, ftp, etc. but they do not have an answer to my specific question.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you. -
You can’t. Essentially you’ve got two blogs: one completely offline and one online. What you can do is go to your offline blog, copy the contents of a post and paste them. You’ll have to upload images and redo categories etc.
If you want to blog offline, use Blogdesk, Ecto, Windows Live Writer, or similar offline blog editor. They synch up directly with your blog and automatically post and upload everything you’ve done.

Thank you so much for your reply (and a quick one too!), raincoaster.
I can stop wasting looking for an answer that didn’t exist and start focusing on finding a good offline blog editor now. I didn’t even know these things existed till now.
I have quickly checked out the ones you’ve mentioned. I have Windows XP, so it seems Ecto’s not going to work for me (their website says it’s for Mac’s and it’s not free like the other 2).
Do you know what the word on the street is in terms of which ones are considered better than others?
And do you know if they can download the posts you already have on your wordpress.com (online) blog so you can keep a backup copy on your PC? Blogdesk, Windows Live Writer, and Ecto didn’t have that mentioned in the list of main features.
Thanks again.

Everyone I know who uses WLW loves it, but I’ve never tried it. Blogdesk is solid and intuitive and has never failed for me.
They don’t download backup copies, but you can always do one yourself:

You’re welcome. It’s a useful resource, but the search is a little wonky because it brings up all the index posts.
