How to upload Youtube Videos???

Hey right I’m having real trouble getting to grips with uploading a Youtube Video to my Blog! I’ve searched through the forums on here and found a link to the direct support from wordpress where they tell you how to upload but I still can’t do it they tell you to copy and paste the example they have used into my blog to see if it works so I can then do my own but even when I use their example it doesn’t work. I publish the Blog and what comes up is exactly what I’ve typed in which is the URL i’ve tried embedding it and using the URL now but neither works so I don’t know what else to use. Maybe I’m putting it in the wrong place…I’m just clicking NEW POST writing what I want and then copy and pasting the URL below it and clicking publish. Any ideas where I may be going wrong?

Yes. If your blog is WP.org, that is not the correct way to embed the video. If your blog is WP.com, that is also not the right method, which is different from the WP.org way.
Please give us a link to the blog you have, starting with http. Then we can provide solutions.

No, it doesn’t. This is why I cancelled my last blog with wordpress.
When I click on the add video url, there’s a space to paste the url, I do so.
THERE’S NO SPACE TO TYPE IN A TITLE!!!
Consequently, all that appears in a post is the typed url. My blog is http://gmcase.wordpress.com -
Okay, now I’m totally confused. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, even though I do exactly the same thing.

The most consistent way to post youtube videos is to use the youtube shortcode and to insert it into the “HTML” tab in the editor.
[youtube=URL of youtube video]

is this accurate as of version 2.7.1? When I try to do this (a la http://support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/), the video is not embedded, but instead there is just a link.
if I try manually adding something like “[youtube=URL of youtube video]” in the HTML editor, then the post just shows that text verbatim, no video.
if I enter the “embed” code from the youtube page, the video embeds fine, but since I’m setting this up for someone a bit less technically savvy, I’d much prefer the the method shown on the support page.
do we need to install/enable a plugin to get this to work?

If you are using 2.7.1, you are in the wrong forum. The shortcodes only work with blogs hosted here on the wordpress.COM free hosting service. Your stuff works differently and you need to ask questions over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ which is where self-hosted wordpress blogs are supported.
