how to use a downloaded CSS?

    I have downloaded many different themes that i love. I have tried to put it in my custom css on my wordpress but it never shows. What am I doing wrong?

    CSS is theme specific. You cannot use the CSS from one theme with another. Each author decides what they are going to name the selectors in their CSS, and how they are going to organize and use them. That means all CSS is different.

    What you have to do is start with one of the themes here at wordpress.COM, and then modify the CSS for that theme to get the look you want.
