How to use an old backup

  I had a website that used WP (which a friend helped put together for me), but someone put malware on the site and it was eventually taken down. I have an old back up of that site, that opens in textedit as pages and pages of code. Is there anyway I can use that old backup to get the site up and running again? How would I do that? I’m sorry, I’m very technically challenged and I don’t understand how these things work.

  Your site is not hosted here, on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider.
