How to use an SVG image as a Gravatar
-
I want to use an SVG image that I made as my Gravatar, but I get the following error:
Something went wrong when downloading that image. Are you sure the web address you entered is for a publicly available image? You should be able to view just the image (nothing else) by clicking here.
I don’t want to rasterize the image because then it would no longer be scalable. Are there any plans to implement SVG format in the future?

Note that SVG graphics are not allowed on WordPress.com for security reasons. Also note that WordPress.COM and Gravatar are together forever. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/changing-backgrounds-in-able-theme?replies=10#post-1210515

What security related issues are related to SVGs? Can’t they just be verified as “safe” before being uploaded? Being XML, they are very easy to parse.

Hi there! We don’t have any plans to allow SVG image uploads. You’ll need to use one of the file types timethief mentioned.

I already have, but the image would be better off as an SVG; I hope SVG support can be added in the future.

You can request that here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/ideas#postform but please don’t hold your breath.
