How to use CSS to change individual page background colors
-
Hi good people at WP
Could someone tell me what CSS code, and how to apply it to an individual page for a different background colour.
I use toolbox theme and have full control of CSS.
I placed this – body {background-color: #2bc43f;} on my style sheet and are happy with it, but would like a different background colour on some other pages if it’s possible with WP.
Have tried lots of stuff, but no dice I’m afraid. Also, when I press the preview button on my CSS page it opens the home page without any CSS applied.
I only have the home page published at the moment as I am in depth working on my pages. My blog is http://humorousscript.wordpress.com

Yes it’s possible. If you mean static pages, the code you’d use would be like this:
.page-id-N { background-color: #456789; }Replace N with the ID number of the particular page you want to change.

@thomasronchetti, try the settings in the Appearance → Themes → Customize → Colors panel first. If you still need help, please start a new help request at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization/#postform since your question is about a different theme.
where to look it in the editor page??
You can use built in browser tools to view CSS. Right-click on the element you’re interested in, select the “Inspect Element” option, and look in the panel that appears. You should see the HTML for what you clicked on highlighted on the left and I’ll have the CSS then apply stick on the right. Make sure you are using a modern/up-to-date browser: http://browsehappy.com/

If you would be so kind; I will wait for your reply before going in ever decreasing circles. Thanks BR

You can go to Pages > All Pages, hover over the page title and look at the status/progress bar of your browser: the URL you’ll see includes “post=N”. Or, again in Pages > All Pages, you can click the page title to edit it, and look at the address bar of your browser: you’ll see the same indication. Or, if the page is published, you can visit the actual page on your blog, select View Source (or whatever your browser call this) and search for “page-id”.
