How to use my existing domain name on WordPress

  Hello! I am new at this, but I was told that I could use a domain that I’ve already paid for elsewhere. I am trying to start a blog called “The Civilized Barbarian.” I have this domain which I’ve paid for on Gandi. But all I’m getting is “This blog name is already taken.” When I search online, I don’t find anyone with a blog by this name. What can I do?

  Hey there @quillondayton!

  Check out this support page about mapping an existing domain. This should fix you up. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  But all I’m getting is “This blog name is already taken.”

  When you say this I think you’re talking about WordPress telling you that civilizedbarbarian.wordpress.com is already taken. If you’re importing an existing domain you shouldn’t have to worry about this. This is just if you’re using a free domain like “something.wordpress.com”.

  I hope this fixes your problem and gets you going.
