How to use pure XHTML in posts?

    is there a way to turn off WP’s interpolation of some double-characters into HTML on WP.com?

    I imported my blog from Blogger, and I’m used to using pure XHTML in my posts. also, I have some text that’s quoted from command-line output, which definitely should not be interpolated (in particular, -- should not be changed to —).
