I would like to transfer my journal entries to WORDPRESS by using the SEMAGIC client.

But after trying the suggestions made here both in the support section and from other pages online, I keep getting this particular error:

    ‘Error: 404
    Resource Not Found’

So my question is how exactly do I log into WORDPRESS using my SEMAGIC client?

Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

Yes, there is a direct live journal import that wordpress has provided. Check the link Timethief provided. That would be the easiest way.

    @timethief- My wordpress.com URL is http://mikesmaddie.wordpress.com

And I can’t import my entries to wordpress.com because lj.com (LiveJournal) was hit by a DOS attack about three weeks ago. And there has been quite a queue of people trying to import their lj.com entries to other places (including wordpress.com).

I’ve tried doing this here at the wordpress.com for over two weeks. And I keep getting an error message about the import fuction not working.

And so, that is why I asked how I could use SEMAGIC to transfer my posts to here (wordpress.com).

Hope that both makes sense and that it helps.

@thesacredpath- Please see my reply to timethief about why I can’t use the import fuction here on wordpress.com in order to transfer my lj.com (LiveJournal entries.

@timethief- I will get in touch with support.

But I thought first that I would ask about this (using SEMAGIC to transfer my lj.com entries to the wordpress.com site) here before I contacted the wordpress.com site support section.

Semagic says it can work with WordPress, but I’ve never tried to use it and know nothing about it. From what I see though the setup should be rather straight forward and as long as you get he URL for the API point correct, everything should work, and that is,

    http://blogname.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php

If your username and password are correct, and Semagic has things straight on their end, it should work.

Contacting staff at this point is probably your best bet.

@thesacredpath- I’ve tried doing what you suggested in your most recent reply but that didn’t work.

Well, it looks I will be contacting wordpress.com support about this.

Thanks to both you and @timethief for your help, as it’s most appreciated.

One last thing and that is the LiveJournal to wordpress.com import feature just now worked for me.

So now I’m update to with all of my LiveJournal posts on my wordpress.com blog.

    Hope that helps.

You can always look at blogdesk or windows live writer if you’re on Windoze, or Ecto if you are on Mac. Ecto isn’t free, but at about $20, it doesn’t break the bank either and I have been very pleased with Ecto.
