How to use the On Hover Pin It button from Pinterest in Suits Theme?
-
I want to use the On Hover Pin It button on my blog (in addition to a button in my sidebar ‘Follow Me on Pinterest’).
I’ve tried a couple different ways to enter Pinterest’s HTML for this capability but can’t get it to work and am wondering if it’s possible with the theme I’m using? If it is possible, I’m doing something wrong!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Maggie,
It appears that the only way to accomplish this is through installing a plugin or adding additional coding to your site. If so, unfortunately, this will not be possible on WordPress.com. It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction:
With regards to adding the code, can you let me know a bit more about where Pinterest wants you to add the code or perhaps point me to the instructions you’re following?
Just a note, you can add a Pinterest share button at the bottom of your posts following the instructions here:

Hi Jeremey,
Thanks for your detailed response, this is helpful. I had the share button at the bottom of my posts but when you click on it, it adds the step of choosing which image you want to pin on the whole site. With the ‘Hover’ button that step is eliminated and whatever image you click on automatically gets pinned. It’s also just a more direct prompt to pin something.
Anyway – here are the instructions from Pinterest that I’ve been using. I’m definitely not a web developer but the only really confusing part of these instructions for me is the phrase “call pinit.js”. Is that a plug-in they’re referring to or just javascript?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey Maggie,
Unfortunately, this code won’t work on WordPress.com. The main reason is that we block script tags for security reasons as explained here:
For now, the best option will be to continue using the Pinterest sharing button. In order to move to the hover button, you would need to move to a self-hosted site to install a plugin or use the code they suggest. I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

Thank you! Just knowing that it’s not possible is a big help! I’ve been considering migrating to a wordpress.org blog so this is another tick mark in that column. Thanks for the quick responses!

I’m glad Jeremey was able to assist you. Please let us know if you need assistance in transitioning to a self-hosted site.
