How to use theme I purchased?
-
I bought the Pretty Young Thing theme and want to use the area for the author on the upper right hand side. How do I get to that area to drop in information?

Howdy,
You used the Authors widget to display your picture. You can edit the widget at Appearance -> Widgets in your dashboard.
-
Thanks Chris. I set that up to use temporarily. I want to use the “box” that was created with the template? There I can use a button for FB, twitter, etc. and put some copy “about me” to share with my readers?

Howdy,
You can create something similar by using the text widget and a little bit of HTML.
You might try adding something like this to your text widget:
<span class="alignright"><img src="[URL of IMAGE]" /></span> [TEXT of BIO]The social media links were added by creating a Custom Menu, and adding it to the sidebar with a Custom Menu widget:

Hey Chris! I’ve been playing with the above recommendations and it still isn’t creating the “user box” that is shown where I purchased the template. ? I’m at a loss here. I’ve added in my bio for now but think it looks really wordy and would prefer to add the other little icons -facebook, twitter, etc. Help! :)

Also, Chris, do you know if I can post summaries of some of my posts in my sidebar for people to see little bits of as teasers?
Thanks so much! -
For summaries, you could try a Text widget.
For the other bit, I recommend contacting the developer directly for help: http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/pretty-young-thing
For future reference, there will be a link for the specific Premium Theme support forum under Appearance -> Themes in your blog’s Dashboard, but the theme needs to be active and you need to be signed in as the user who purchased it in order to see it.

Thanks so much! You don’t happen to know if I can add summary posts on my sidebar by chance with this template, do you?
Happy New Year!

That’s what I meant by the Text widget. You won’t be able to add them automatically, but you could add whatever you’d like to a Text widget, including short snippets with links. The widget uses text and plain HTML.

Okay, I tried that but will try again. I’m sure it’s user error!
I’m also in the process of transferring over to wordpress.org but it isn’t transferring my template that I purchased? How do I do that?
Thanks! -
The themes at WordPress.com are optimized for use on sites hosted here at WordPress.com. They can’t be transferred to self-hosted WordPress.org sites.
-
Chris, I’m dying. I just bought this theme, less than 2 months ago! Can I get a refund? I never saw anywhere that themes couldn’t be transferred.
-
I’ve refunded your theme purchase — it may take up to a week to be reflected on your statement.
Don’t hesitate to contact us again if you need anymore help. :-)

Chris, can I ask you something? When I downloaded my files to transfer over, did it not include my email subscribers? Is the email system not the same on .org? How do I get to my files here to move? I had to install a feedburner but wanted to know if the old system would still work? I can’t get anyone to answer my questions on either forum? Can you help?
Thank you in advance!

If you install Jetpack on your self-hosted blog, there is a way that we can transfer the subscribers over to be Jetpack subscribers, but not Feedburner subscribers.
If you’d like to do that, please install and activate Jetpack and let us know when you’re ready.

Whoo-hooo! Now we’re cooking! Thank you macmanx! You guys are so helpful! Okay, I just integrated it. Ready to go on this side, or so I think! :)

Your subscriptions have been transfered as requested.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance!
