    Hi all,
I would like to install a widget/tool for selection of an individual language i,e, an “online translator”. I saw a lot of plugins in the internet, but on the other side I’ve read, that own Plugins will not work under WordPress !? I’m really confused now. Would be greatful if somebody could explain what I have to do to get an functionality like e.g. “Google translator” or something else.
    Hope to get propoer answers.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • That’s correct, custom plugins can’t be added on WordPress.com.

If you are trying to setup a multilingual blog, here are some options: https://en.support.wordpress.com/set-up-a-multilingual-blog/

You can also use Google Translate to translate your blog to any language. For e.g. this link will translate your blog to English: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&u=http://galerie-der-panther.de/&sandbox=0

So you can add a text widget or image widget on your sidebar and attach this link. If your visitors click the text or image, they will be taken to the translated pages.

    Great! Really great! Cheers.
I’ve used the now GoogleTranslator as a link in my menue. The Translation is absolutely OK. But: it is a bit confusing, that the original text/language will be shown, if I stay some seconds on a word (e.g. original German word will be displayed additionally, if the mouse arrow is positioned on an English word). This is a Google functionality what I would like to deactivate.
Do you have also a tip for me to define in the link, that this functionality will be disabled by default?
    Would be greatfull.
    Cheers Joergen

  • I see what you are saying. It is indeed annoying :(

Unfortunately there is no switch to turn it off. However there is some CSS you can as shown here. But to use CSS on WordPress.com you would need Custom Design upgrade.
