How to verify free wordpress in google search console?

  Hi all, I want to verify a free wordpress site, and I’ve tried to follow the instructions on google search console. It doesn’t make sense though. I think the instructions refer to the paid wordpress. One option is to download a html code, but I don’t know how or where to ‘upload’ it into my wordpress. Another option is to enter a code into the <home> text, but I can’t find where this editable text is located? Can anyone help?

  Bare in mind that if your websites uses the self-hosted version of WordPress rather than WordPress.com, you should post in the self-hosted forums or alternatively contact your hosting prover. Note the difference here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  Hi, it is ***.wordpress.com. The website is not currently public. It has the options down the side of view site, stats, plan, (manage) site pages, blog posts, media, comments, feedback, plugins, import, (personalise) customise, (configure) sharing, people, domains, settings
