How was this blog designed?

    Hi,

    This is a really popular blog in the design world: http://design-milk.com/

    My question is: can a blog be designed like this with wordpress?

    I assume you’d have to design the blog separately and then integrate wordpress and host it on a server outside of wp?
    Forgive me for the dumb questions but a blog of this sophistication couldn’t be done by tweaking the css with the $15 upgrade?

    A few of the features there can’t be done at WordPress.com currently, the post rating stars in particular.

    But in general that kind of design lends itself well to CSS with the Sandbox theme, provided you have the necessary CSS knowledge.

    You can experiment and preview custom CSS without buying the upgrade (Appearance / Custom CSS), so that would be the ideal way to start.

    Clicked on your blog….nice looking!!!!

    Sandbox? What is that? How do I learn it? I’ve tweaked my css a little and bought the upgrade but have made only minor changes to my cutline theme.

    Can I modify my css and make have more columns? One on the left, one on the right?

    Sandbox is a kind of “vanilla” theme – you’ll find it as one of the options in the Themes tab of your dashboard. It’s unstyled and not much to look at by itself, but it has rich markup that is made for styling with custom CSS. It has options for one, two and three column layouts (in the Sandbox Skins tab, once you’ve activated it).
