How wide should my Header image be (Motif theme)?
-
Hi. I’m trying to insert a banner (header) to the top of my blog, using the “customise your blog” tools. It says that the theme recommends a size of 320×110 pixels. I have experimented with this and wider banners (current one is 1340 wide), but I can’t get it to fit. Please advise what pixel width the image for the Header should be? Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

P)lease read your detailed theme description page at this link http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/motif/
Custom Header
Motif supports a custom header image that you can use to upload your own logo. You can choose to display the header text or hide it.
To upload your image, go to Appearance → Header. The maximum size of the image is 320 x 110 pixels.Note also the Full-width and grid page templates section on that same page. *The featured image on the homepage works best with images at least 1140 wide.

Thanks for your reply, Timethief. I already tried 320×110 px, but that was way too small. The image I am currently using is above 1140 (it’s 1340 px), but even that is not wide enough.
I’ve read the theme description, but can’t find anything else on this.
Do I just need to experiment until I get it right?

You are confusing two different things. Those two things are the featured images and the header images. They are different. That theme does NOT have a full sized header that spans the blog width.
