How will my Custom Domain look like?
-
I recently registered my blog on a free wordpress plan on a .co domain name with the intention of upgrading it to premium plan package.
The problem is that the domain name now appears in words namely mapenzidotco.wordpress.com, which is a bit confusing for me as I’m not really sure how it will look once I do the upgrade. I have read that one of the perks of doing the premium upgrade is a custom site address.
Will the dotco part change automatically and look something like .co once I do the upgrade? I was really hoping that it finally looks like mapenzi.co, instead of how it looks now… mapenzidotco
Plus, will I be charged more than $99 for the premium upgrade?
Thanks for anticipated responses.

Hi there,
You can change your primary domain to your custom domain, so every visitor will see it like yoursite.com instead of yoursite.wordpress.com.
You’ll be able to change it here >> https://mapenzidotco.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
Premium Plan already have dommain mapping upgrade, so you don’t need to pay more than $99 :)

Thanks bro @gugaalveswp,
I have just clicked on the link and searched for my domain and it’s showing the name just like I wanted with a tick next to the price of $25.
Does this mean that an upgrade will rectify the dotco part?
On the free plan it’s showing yoursitedotco.wordpress.com. Is it normal to have the dotco part? (since I opted for the .co tld, instead of.com)
The last thing I want is to have the dotco text as part of my domain name — yoursitedotco.com
Kindly assist

Hello!
Apologies for the delay. The ‘dotco’ in your WordPress.com URL is normal. This is just what we do when we’re creating a site with a custom domain.
Once you purchase the custom domain, your readers will never see that WordPress.com domain. Just make sure the domain you purchase is ‘yoursite.co’ :D
