How/Can I Transfer a Domain Mapping Upgrade between WordPress Users?

  My Mapped Domain (from GoDaddy) is up for renewal and I can’t renew it because the ‘Upgrade’ is still owned by the previous WordPress Site Owner.

  Can we just have the old Owner cancel the mapping and then I buy it again on my Account?

  We need to transfer the ownership of a ‘Mapped Domain Upgrade’ between WordPress users so I (the new Owner) can renew the Domain Mapping Upgrade for another year (the WordPress mapping expires in a few weeks – my domain is managed through GoDaddy and still valid for another year).

  A while ago we successfully transferred ownership of our blog between WordPress Users (no problems there).

  Now my Domain Mapping Upgrade is up for renewal … but … I’m not given the option to Renew the Mapped Domain because the Upgrade was purchased by the old Owner and WordPress only lets the original purcahser Renew it (I can see the domain on ‘My Site’ as a Primary Domain but I can’t manage the mapping).

  We contacted the old Owner to try and Transfer the Mapped Domain Upgrade to our Blog but it looks like the system won’t let them transfer the Mapped Domain to a Blog they don’t currently own (it only listed their Blogs in the transfer dropdown).

  Any suggestions on how to get control of the Domain Mapping?

  One idea I had … what if we have the old Owner just cancel the Domain Mapping Upgrade on their account and then we Purchase a Domain Mapping a day later?

  Will that work? (perhaps we are down for a day … but I can live with that).

  Any help or past experience is appreciated.

  Hi there,

  I can help transfer ownership of that domain mapping upgrade from the person who purchased it to your account. (That way you won’t have any down time.) I just need that person to confirm that they want to transfer it to you.

  Can you please ask the person who owns that upgrade to either post here in this forum thread or contact us directly to confirm they want to transfer the domain mapping for cultureprocured.com to your account so you own and can manage it?

  Hi! I’ve got the same problem with one of my wordpress blogs and I hope it is ok that I reuse this thread instead of starting a similar new thread. I’ve asked one of the previous administrators of my site to ask you to transfer the mapping to me. :)
