  I’m glad to see that you were able to set your site to private since sending in your support request.

  We noticed that the setting was set to discourage search engines from indexing, instead of being available to search engines by default. Because it was a default setting, we had no way of knowing whether you had intentionally chosen it. We updated the setting to match our usual default, then notified you so you could decide what to do from here.

  Making the site visible to search engines would not immediately list it in search results. It would just stop the site from hiding. Also, hiding the site from search engines does not necessarily make it private: anyone with a link could still access it, and some search engines ignore that setting.

  Setting your site to private, as you’ve now done, is the only way to hold complete control over who can view your site.
