how/why is a copy of my site being hosted elsewhere?
-
I’ve just discovered that a replica of my entire site seems to be being hosted on something called lamb.da.
What is this?
Help here would be appreciated.
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
The website you refer to is http://lamb-da.appspot.com/. It’s a proxy tool named “shy sheep.” It’ll work with any domain. I don’t know if it’s legal, but since the “reblogging” of somebody else’s posts (which you found, and to which you add nothing except your name) seems to be considered kosher, even among people who claim to have high ethical standards, why not the reblogging of entire websites under different addresses?
-
Once again: help here would be appreciated, WordPress. Why is a copy of my entire site (including my paid-for domain name) also being seemingly hosted by another source other than yourselves?
I included a link in a previous thread here, and the post was closed down immediately by admin.
Please respond.

(which you found, and to which you add nothing except your name)
The “you” here was meant to be rhetorical, not referring to the original poster, but I can see how it might appear to be directed that way. The cynicism is toward the idea that “reblogging” is ethically sound, reblogging being cited as analogous to the present issue.

If this is the case then this is not good.
WordPress: please inform me as what can be done here.

This is not a reblogging situation at all. That site is not hosted by WordPress.COM and you need to contact the web host for it.
re: web hosting

I don’t know if you read that part of my first post here, or understood what I meant. That proxy works with your site, my site, and every other website URL I’ve tried, exactly as it does with the OP’s domain. It merely adds to the domain as an extension to http://lamb-da.appspot.com/. So it affects all of us.

Timethief,
I have tried the Google DMCA takedown notice form a couple of times, and for some reason(?) both have been rejected with no action taken. On further investigation it seems (I think) the offending link is a duplicate of my front page which then links to my WordPress site. Either way (if this is the case) I’d still like to get rid of this rogue link.
Any other course of action you’d recommend? -
