htaccess deny all

hello–please be gentle on me, and explain as if I am a 5 year old, any possible reasons as to why my blog was up a week ago, and now any attempts to log in or access it are met with a 403 ERROR. I have not changed or edited anything. accessing the Cpanel from my webhost, shows that the .htaccess file says “deny from all”. i have tried various methods of editing it, by ftp and and directly from Cpanel, but am being denied the permission to make changes. I am not able to delete and replace the .htaccess file. Thanks!

You did not give a URL – but from your description

The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.

This site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/

The forum at WordPress.ORG is not connected to WordPress.COM so you will need to open an account at .ORG if you do not already have one. You may use the same email at WordPress.ORG as you do at WordPress.COM.
