HTML 500 Error on login

    Hi, there.

I’m hoping that someone can point me in the right direction to sort out an HTML 500 error when I try to login to the dashboard of my website.

Background. This website was working perfectly. Now it’s not. I hadn’t changed anything. I contacted my website provider (Easily.uk) and they have washed their hands of the error, saying that it’s a third party application provider problem. This is despite them having set up the WordPress Installation for me five years ago.

So. Somewhere in the bowels of my website is a WordPress Database with all my web pages, media library, etc. (Using Filezilla, I can see where this is).

My question is: How do I set up a fresh WordPress install without overwriting that database, please?

Sorry it’s such a dumb question, but I’m utterly frustrated at my web provider’s lack of support and I am a technical noob on WordPress.

    Many thanks,

    Steve

  • Hi there,

From the sound of it, your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software and you need to seek help at these forums:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Here is information on addressing the HTTP 500 error you are receiving:

    https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-internal-server-error-in-wordpress/

These forums are for WordPress.com-hosted sites only. Since we do not have access to self-hosted WordPress.org sites, we are unable to provide any direct assistance to your issue. I would reach out to your site host for help.

    Thanks!
