I am trying to figure out how to this code in the link here: http://www.astrosociety.org/widget/instructions.html#website
I assume that I use the Text Widget to do this. However, I don’t know what has to be edited in order to make it appear correctly. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The URL you provide above is invalid and You cannot access that widget code http://www.astrosociety.org/widget/
Also be aware that we cannot use JavaScript widgets on wordpress.COM blogs for security reasons.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/Please point me to a URL where I can view the complete code.

I’m sorry, I messed up the link. Here is the correct link: http://www.astrosociety.org/widget/instructions.html

See here please to copy and paste the code into the Text widget

Thank you for the fast response. I think my problem is, even though I copy and paste the code into the text widget, it doesn’t work right. So I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out what I am doing wrong, or if I have to change something in the pasted code, in which case I have no idea what.

Provided the code is not for a JavaScript widget or an iframe the software here will support it, but if it is one of those the software will strip the code out.
To get Staff to examine the code in the text widget type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond. You are welcome and please be patient while waiting. While you are waiting make sure that you copied the entire code into the text widget without changing even the slightest bit of it.

Hey there,
I checked the code on http://www.astrosociety.org/widget/instructions.html and it is not working because it contains CSS style tags – which are not allowed on WordPress.com
We do have a custom design upgrade which will allow you to use CSS on your site. But, in terms of adding the code into a text widget, it’s not working because of the style tags in the code.
For more information on what code is allowed and not allowed, please visit our support page.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!

The banner ads that are provided by Amazon are iframes. Is there a way or a reliable plugin to add iframes to a widget in WordPress?
-
Oh, it’s worth mentioning that although I am using WordPress I NOT hosting my website at WordPress.com.

Oh, it’s worth mentioning that although I am using WordPress I NOT hosting my website at WordPress.com.
Of course that is worth mentioning. :) What follows is exactly why we are asked to provide the URL of the site we refer to in our threads. It is so Volunteers and Staff can locate where it is hosted and direct bloggers to the correct support forum for their software.
That site is not hosted by WordPress.COM. We provide support here only for blogs hosted by WordPress.COM. We do not provide support for WordPress.ORG software installs. You are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Such a friendly atmosphere you foster here mate. Apologies for violating some supreme national security protocol. The site is hosted on my test server so how dare I post a simple request about Word Press on the wrong forum… Oh dear!!! How many times have people ended up here and found answers for things that technically should have been searched for in another forum. I didn’t realize I was on sacred web property and rest assured I will NEVER seek advice from anyone in this or any other WP blog, forum or discussion group. You know, in your haste to chastise me you didn’t even think to say, “oh btw thanks for sharing what you did discovered, I’m sure it helped someone even though it’s posted in the wrong forum”.
