html code not displayng correctly

Dear WP,
I own my domain name, which this blog points to.
If I add code to my widgets or to a page it shows the code and not the link or image the code is for.
Please help, thanks!

Certain codes are stripped from WordPress.com due to security reasons as explained here:
However, I’m happy to take a look and see if the particular code you’re trying to use will work. Can you explain a bit more about what you’re looking to accomplish or paste a link to where this has happened on your blog?
