Html code not working
-
I am trying to add html code to my page and using the html editor. I am not a computer nerd and i am just doing a basic cut and paste. when i go to update or preview the code disappears. I have been reading some forums about fixing this problem with plugins but i have no idea how to even install these plugins or where to look for them. Pretty please in normal language. I am using google chrome. and a basic code..nothing fancy. help!

How can we help if we cannot see the problem? Paste the code here please, enclosed in backticks.

well i dont know what that is or why i need to enclose it in that..but i hope i did it…here goes nothing
<object width="360" height="300"><param name="movie" value="http://www.redbubble.com/swf/redbubble.swf"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><PARAM NAME=FlashVars VALUE="url=http://www.redbubble.com/people/absentlover/portfolio/recent.atom?campaign=sales_widget&mode=slideshow"><embed src="http://www.redbubble.com/swf/redbubble.swf" FlashVars="url=http://www.redbubble.com/people/absentlover/portfolio/recent.atom?campaign=sales_widget&mode=slideshow" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="360" height="300"></embed></object> -
1) Yes you did it. In these forums you need to paste code between backticks otherwise it won’t display correctly (for instance, if you paste the code for a link without enclosing it in backticks, the result will be a live link).
2) That’s not “a basic code”, that’s a flash embed code. On wordpress.com we’re not allowed to use embed codes directly, for security reasons. But flash objects in particular can be inserted if you convert their code to a wp-specific shortcode.
This is what you need to paste in the HTML editor:
[gigya src="http://www.redbubble.com/swf/redbubble.swf" FlashVars="url=http://www.redbubble.com/people/absentlover/portfolio/recent.atom?campaign=sales_widget&mode=slideshow" allowfullscreen="true" width="360" height="300" ]For more on this, see here:

i meant add ons i guess? it says in some places to download them but they come in a zip and a bunch of folders that just don’t seem to do much except make me scratch my head :-)

Downloadable things are for wordpress.org (= self-hosted) blogs, not wordpress.com blogs. On wordpress.com you are limited to what you can find in your dashboard.

aha… thanks for your help..at least now i can try to fumble my way through it a bit.. :-)
