HTML editing in the WordPress.com blog account
-
I’m new here and I have recently printed out a WordPress version 3 tutorial.
It says there that for a WordPress.com account, you can’t edit the HTML code of your blog’s page but since this is a new version, am I now able to do so for free?
If yes, how can I do it? I want to put still images on my blog to accompany an article.Unfortunately, though I have the tutorial, I’m in a bind as to what to do and go around here. I hope you guys wouldn’t mind if you are to help me out…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The site linked to your name is an unused wordpress.COM blog. Is this the blog you are planning to use?
If so, then you need to read about the difference between
wordpress.COM and
wordpress.ORG
http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/On wp.COM we can edit the html which influences how a post looks. But here, we can’t access the underlying code which can change how a blog (theme) works. Html codes we can use are listed here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/If you are new to blogging, and want to use wp.COM, you don’t really have to learn html coding. Let me suggest you work your way through:
http://learn.wordpress.com/Do you have something specific you want to do with your blog that you don’t know how to do?

For now, I’ll check the resources you referred me to. But nevertheless, thank you for your help.
I’ll ask if something comes up – thanks again :-)

Themes and wordpress are not written in HTML, they are written in PHP script which you really need to have a good knowledge of before plundering otherwise you can open up large security holes.

By the way, I read through the allowed HTML codes and I noticed one thing:
how come <alt> tags aren’t included?@thesacredpath
Now, I’m confused – which is which?
Though the whole site runs on PHP, HTML is its framework, right? -
i downloaded something on the net a theme for wordpress…it is a zip how can i put it on my blog…is it possible?

@almazanfava
The “allowed” list is of html elements, not attributes. the “alt” attribute is permitted in img and area tags. -

Themes are only usable on self-hosted worpress.org sites, not on worpress.com. See WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org for more information on the differences.
