HTML Preview Problems
-
Greetings,
We are in the process of making a website but we’ve run into a problem that we were unable to solve recently. We have prepared a page through a 3rd party tool that we intended to import as HTML. When we import it to a custom HTML block by copy pasting the code it appears perfectly fine on the block preview the first time. When we open the final preview it appears broken. We are willing to provide the HTML code as well as some screenshots if deemed necessary along further discussion. We are eagerlyy waiting for your response.
Thanks in advance for your help

Hello there,
What is the third party tool you’re working with to produce that HTML?
Factoring in how WordPress works, this may not be the best way to approach what you’re doing.
Many thanks.

Hello again,
Our apologies for the late response. We have used a website called Notion to prepare the layout and the content of the page. It includes tables, pictures, links and text. After we were satisfied with the result, we just used the export as HTML function to directly download the HTML code for the page. After that, from wordpress we created a new page and added a custom HTML block to it which then we pasted the HTML code. The initial preview of the block resulted in the exact page we designed. However when we checked the final preview both in a new tab everything was misaligned, table was broken, some of the actual code was showing… I think the issue might be related to the block system interfering with the HTML for the whole page we designed. Is there a way for us to achieve our goal without us remaking the page?
With gratitude.

The page broke upon publishing because it likely had code that we don’t allow on WordPress.com.

The bigger issue here is you’re trying to take fully rendered HTML site pages and adding them to a WordPress site through a block.
Pages created in Notion are meant to be uploaded to a hosting server and accessed via your domain directory. They’re not meant to be layout tools for WordPress sites. It would be like taking a brand new car and building another car body over top of it.
Fixing this would be beyond the scope of support we can provide in the forums, but we have some guides to help you convert the content from your HTML pages to your WordPress.com site.

Or, the alternative would be to recreate the design in a WordPress Full Site Editor template.
I hope that clarifies things!
