HTML Table tags

I sign on, select “New Post” from the top, then see “Text” “Photo” “Video” “Quote” “Link” (no sign of a visual editor).

The only one that fits is “Text”. Now I get a Word-like screen: attribute icons across the top.

I paste in a small table, starting with <table> and ending with </table>.

I select “Preview”, see “Saving…”, then “Draft Saved”, and I see the HTML code, not the table.

What’s the trick to get WordPress to interpret the HTML?

I did the same with another tag, , and still I don’t see the result, only the code.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You don’t use the Text tag, because that makes it display. If you don’t see buttons across the top with little pictures, you’re already in the text editor, aka the HTML editor. Just paste the code in there NOT BETWEEN OTHER CODE TAGS.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    I didn’t have a text tag, just from < table > to < / table >

The only choices I got when I log in are “Text” “Photo” “Video” “Quote” “Link” (no sign of a visual editor)..

I figured out one problem: I logged in to WordPress, then picked “New Post”. That got me in trouble. This time I opened my own page, then picked “Add new post” from there. That got me to a familiar editor, and the table rendered OK.

I also discovered that I can switch between “Visual” and “Text”.

It’s been a while since I posted, so getting around was a bit if a search. It looks like the key is to go to your WordPress page and Add from there.

Thanks again – your reply helped jog my memory. (Case closed.)

Ah, I didn’t realize you had used the infamous New Post button. Yet one more thing it doesn’t work with. I always use the drop-down menu on the Admin bar to get to New Post and that generally works (although my last post has gone into Limbo).
