HTML tags suggested in the manual excerpt documentation are not visibly applied

Until at least two weeks ago, I was able to use html tags such as <p> and <br> in my manual excerpts for styling. Today I noticed that neither tag is reflected in the displayed excerpts. I also tried the tag from the documentation to no avail. The text within tags still gets displayed though.
I tried both of my sites, with different themes, and different browsers, all without the desired result.

Both https://moritzrenzi.wordpress.com/2023/02/17/the-settlers/ and https://moritzrenzi.wordpress.com/2021/02/16/dontdieagain/ are affected, I also tested https://renziportfolio.wordpress.com/2023/03/09/13/ where I put the excerpt on the post itselft for comparison, where it doesn’t work either.

So the tags I see in each excerpt are working as intended, particularly the <em> tag. Since there is only one paragraph in each of the excerpt examples you gave me, I cannot tell if the <p> tag is working as intended.
Do you have a page with more than one paragraph or where you were trying to use the <br> tag?

I think there is some confusion going on :-)
The excerpts that I am referring to are those ones in the sidebar (though they are almost identical in content). I would like for the project duration (which unfortunately cannot be expressed by just the post date) to be a linebreak above the project description which should be emphasized, but unfortunately, the formatting is not transferred when observing the excerpt on the home page.

I actually don’t see a sidebar anywhere on the site currently… perhaps you’ve been editing that.
But I do see a few posts on one page that show taggless excerpts. I’m guessing it’s that the post excerpts block has all kinds of other formatting that can be applied to it, so tags may be stripped so they don’t conflict.The Latest Posts Block doesn’t have those same options, and I noticed its excerpt formatting is preserved. Want to try that on a page instead? It doesn’t give you as much control as using the query loop, but … it may do for this.

Just noting too, I’ve filed an enhancement request asking about allowing inline tags in the Post Excerpt Block. I can’t say whether or when that would happen, but thank you for sharing your use case on this!

It seems I may have caused a missunderstanding of the issue at hand. I am creating manual excerpts in accordance with the documentation. I am certain that the post excerpt blocks on my main page were displaying formatted excerpts previously. I created a test page to check and I was able to display the formatted manual excerpt on the same page with the post excerpt block while editing. However, upon updating the site, the formatting was stripped again. Can you determine whether this behaviour is correct as is or a bug?

Upon some further testing, I am unable to reproduce the ability to have working inline tags on a fresh site. Maybe the functionality was indeed a lucky bug on my end.
Alternatively, would you happen to know of a way to insert some sort of paragraph into a post excerpt block?

Can you clarify where you were able to do that so we can take a closer look? We have reported it to our developers so the can investigate, and we would like to include that info in their investigation. For example the issue may be with certain themes and not others.

It was on the homepage of the site linked above, using the Quadrat White theme. I am resonably certain that I was able to use paragraph and break tags on the posts linked above, their dissapearance might have been the result of me readjusting the layout of the homepage in the editor. However, checking out the same theme on a fresh website did not work as I recalled it.

So I understand that it used to work on the site’s homepage, but there are no live instances where the formatting is preserved in the Excerpts. Is that correct?
We’ve already notified our developers about this. We also mentioned how it used to work before. A live example would have been great (if one existed), but I understand that there’s none at the moment.
