html "title" command
-
I like titles. I like to have text appear as the cursor moves. There used to be a box to add a title on pictures, then you removed it; and now you have removed the titles from links. So I learned how to add them with html, but in an unpublished post have not been able to.
I put title=””; after <a and before href, but it simply disappears. I wondered if it were the quotation marks, which had been a problem in the past, but copied them from valid html commands and it still did not work. I tried placing the title elsewhere in the html, but that did not work either.
Why is wordpress so hostile to titles? Why take away a useful feature of the editor? I love titles, and am really upset about the loss of this feature.

First I thought I was going mad. Then I thought it was me doing something wrong, but I see I’m not the only one with this problem. I have been able to add titles, though, between the quotes. It’s really great to be able to add a short version of the URL in the hover box above the link text so people know what they’re about to click on.

I’m a fellow wordpress blogger and have the same question about the link name in a hover box – you know, the feature taken away (why..?!) not too long ago where the name of the link we refer to is shown in a little box when people roll over the hyper link, or reference to it in our post…? Could you let me know the answer they send? — How can we restore that function?
I haven’t noticed it making any difference in the number of views or clicks I get between posts, those have been going up for other reasons but I just think it’s nifty, or should be available as an option always. — Thanks – Serena -
The start of the link is now <a href. I put the title there: <a title=”text” href. I put a semicolon after the title, and that was what made it disappear. But there used to be a handy text-box for it, and it is now gone.
I would like to know why. There must be a reason. I have gratitude to wordpress, and would accept most reasons. Is it something to do with viewing blogs on mobiles [“cells”, for those in the US]? But not being told a reason, and being continually lied to- “this person will receive an email whenever you post”, “there is an easier way to create on WordPress!”- I get pissed off.
