HTML usage for plugins and widgets~Is it different for each Theme?
-
Is html coding available as a widget/plugin in my Theme-Adele? I did not see it in the widgets section? I would like to use HTML codes on the side bar as well as adding a pop-up subscribing html code through MailChimp. I tried to download the MailChimp plugin (though I am already a member of it) and add it to the plugin widgets but, it wasn’t functioning? I have also tried adding in a paypal button which didn’t work? Checked code, that was fine. Works on Blogspot…but not WordPress? I have to forward everyone to the old site in blogspot for them to order my books now :(
Any help would be greatly appreciated! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We cannot use the Mailchimp plugin on any WordPress.COM blog but there is a workaround. For a WordPress.COM blog you can create a sign up page on MailChimp directly and simply link to it. Here’s a link to their instructions http://kb.mailchimp.com/article/how-to-add-a-mailchimp-signup-form-to-your-wordpress-blog
See here for the Widgets provided by WordPress.COM
http://en.support.wordpress.com/category/widgets-sidebars/Plugin installation possible only if you hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up a WordPress.ORG install. http://wordpress.org
There is no FTP access to WordPress.COM blogs and we bloggers cannot install any plugins or third party themes.

WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

You cannot use the code provided by PayPal on a WordPress.COM blog. Know that the only instructions that will work for posting a PayPal donation button on a WordPress.com blog are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
