HTML widgets?
-
Is there anyway to put an HTML widget on the blog, as a widget or even a page?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
The answer to your question is: It depends on exactly what code is in the widget in question. Many bloggers tell us the codes are HTML, however, this is frequently not the case. Please see this support entry so you are aware of the codes that will be stripped out by the software to preserve security on this multiuser blogging platform. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
Also if you post the code in question between backticks so all of it displays on this forum we can provide a specific “yes” or “no” answer. Without seeing the code we cannot answer you. The backtic ` not to be confused with the single ‘ quote is found on the same key as the tilde ~ in lower case. On my keyboard that key is to the immediate left of the number 1 key. The format is for posting code to this forum is:
backtick

backtickAlso note that we can only place widgets in sidebars and not in posts or on static pages.

It is a facebook widget:
`
<center><script type="text/javascript" src="http://cdn.widgetserver.com/syndication/subscriber/InsertWidget.js"></script><script type="text/javascript">if (WIDGETBOX) WIDGETBOX.renderWidget('899c3ccc-3ab6-474a-b53e-83d69c2c2016');</script></center> -
How about this one:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://cdn.widgetserver.com/syndication/subscriber/InsertWidget.js"></script><script type="text/javascript">if (WIDGETBOX) WIDGETBOX.renderWidget('40b6e59c-862f-4726-aeed-f582e875e2b7');</script><noscript>Get the <a href="http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/trendcounter">trendcounter - free user online counter</a> widget and many other <a href="http://www.widgetbox.com/">great free widgets</a> at <a href="http://www.widgetbox.com">Widgetbox</a>! Not seeing a widget? (<a href="http://docs.widgetbox.com/using-widgets/installing-widgets/why-cant-i-see-my-widget/">More info</a>)</noscript> -
Nothing with the word “Javascript” can be put here. That is not an HTML widget; it is a javascript widget.
-
anything with iframe or embed or flash in it is out too for security reasons.

Every time i paste this html code onto my blog and after it load on my blod site it takes me to the wordpress blog page

When you post code here, post it between backticks otherwise as you can see it doesn’t work.
-
This looks suspiciously like an affiliate, or PPC link.
Affiliate Link upon request removed by Slik,Those aren’t allowed here at wordpress.COM. See the TOS and also see these links:

And actually I didn’t realize that link would go live. Could a moderator please kill it?
-
-
And that is why it is being filtered out and changed. WordPress filters and scans all links and will take affiliate links, and links to unsafe sites (malware, etc.) out of posts, pages and such.

Not here. If you had an independently-hosted blog with software from WordPress.org, you could. I use them all the time on mine.

Thanks rain
Just figured that out. Thats the way i am going. What hosting site works best with wordpress.org
Thanks

You have to ask WordPress.org questions over at WordPress.org. By definition everyone here is using WordPress.COM as their favored host.
