Hi there,
WordPress.com automatically installs SSL certificates to every blog created with WordPress.com. Learn more: https://en.support.wordpress.com/https-ssl/
Is this what you were referring to?

Yes- an SSL certificate. I added on the $5 “trusted site” add on. I’m wondering if I need to have the secure padlock appear after my address?

Can you confirm you’re referring to http://mainstagestudioswny.wordpress.com/?
If so, you don’t need to pay anything extra for that domain, or an SSL certificate.

It appears that your website uses the self-hosted version of WordPress (hosted by GoDaddy) rather than WordPress.com, which is what this forum is designed to help with. Note the difference here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Your domain also seems to be with GoDaddy, so you may need to contact them. WordPress.com offers SSL certificates for every domain included in the price, but your domain isn’t registered with WordPress.com.
You may be able to find help here: https://wordpress.org/support/
Hope this gets fixed soon!
