    Hello there, I created this site for a client years ago. The business is being sold and I need to transfer ownership to the new clients. But I’m not seeing a way to start this process – please advise. I received a payment confirmation for the domain name this week, and clicked through to manage the http://ellegemz.com/ site, I tried to add my clients but no luck.

    The site is http://ellegemz.com/ its hosted through Laughing Squid and the domain name was purchased through WP. The automatic domain renewal is still be processed by my clients payment (Louise Webber).

    Hi there,

    You’re posting here as the WordPress.com username, harkins797979. I only see one site in this account, and that’s the Jetpack-connected site, http://deborahharkins.com/.

    The domain, ellegemz.com, is registered with us, but belongs to a completely different WordPress.com username. To transfer that domain to another WordPress.com account, first log into that other account, and then follow the instructions here:

    If you also want to transfer the underlying WordPress.com address to which the site is attached, you can do that. Otherwise the person you’re transferring to will need to create their own WordPress.com site to which the domain can be attached in their account:

    If the new owner of the domain would prefer to manage the domain through another registrar instead, you can follow these steps to initiate a domain transfer:

    Once you receive the domain transfer code, give that to the domain’s new owner. Then they can submit that at their preferred registrar to move the domain there, which will automatically give them ownership of the domain as well.

    The actual site appearing at the domain is not hosted on WordPress.com, so we don’t have any control over it. We’re only the domain registrar in this case, not the hosting provider. So to transfer ownership of that site and hosting account, you’ll need to contact your hosting provider directly for help.
