HTTP ERROR 500
-
My site is down and I can’t find a way to fix it. I haven’t posted or done anything with my site in about two months, and the only thing that is different today is I updated the plugins and published a new post. I can’t get to the admin page and I don’t know how to use cPanel or FTP so I can’t do any of those fixes. Any suggestions????

Hi there,
Your site seems to be working again. There are a number of reasons for a 500 error and sometimes they’re temporary. I have also had many reports of that error from students who are hosting with GoDaddy and exceeding the limits of their hosting plan.
But also, this particular forum is for WordPress.com sites, not self-hosted sites using the WordPress.org software.
For future support, you’ll want to go to this forum:
https://wordpress.org/support/If the 500 error reoccurs for you, I’d recommend talking to GoDaddy about your hosting plan, or possibly switching hosts.
Hopefully this helps.
Tanya :-)

Hello there, hope you don’t mind me adding something here.
Hosting at WordPressdotcom is free (upgrade plans add features-like using a custom domain) and the chance of your site going down for technical reasons or for bandwidth limitations (there are none) are next to none.
If you are not technically inclined you might find WordPressdotcom a better fit for you. Have a look at our guide to the differences between ORG, which is the software you are using on Godaddy and COM, where we are, and see if moving your website here might be an option for you. https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Let us know if you have any other questions after reviewing that guide.
