Http error uploading photos

Hi, clicking on Add Media and selecting existing photos to add to my WordPress library has started failing with the message “http error”. This is using the browser version on an iPad and it’s happened since upgrading to IOS8.
As a workaround, I can add photos using the WordPress app and then they appear in the library so I can insert them into posts. I don’t use the app much because I can’t work out how to resize photos, they just appear full size so I delete them from the post, then use the browser version to format them how I want and insert them back into the post.
I could borrow a pc if there’s a one-off tweak I need to make to fix this but otherwise I’m in a remote part of the world with just an iPad.

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org, click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to to those forums.

I get the same error on my PC when trying to upload images, I’ve never had this problem before and it started on the 26th.

Could you let me know the environment (iPad or Laptop) and the browser version you’re using when you receive this error?

I’m using an ipad and the error started after upgrading to 8.0.1. I have just tried again after installing 8.0.2 and it is working! I tried uploading several photos and all appears to be well.
Looks like another IOS 8 issue – I won’t be so quick to upgrade next time.

Thanks for the additional info! I just updated to the latest version of Firefox, and I’m still not having an issue on my side. Can you give another browser like Chrome a try? I just want to see if this is isolated to Firefox on your side.
Also, can you let me know if you’re uploading media directly to a post or just to your Library? If you were doing the former, you would be trying to upload while you’re creating a post. The latter would just be going to Media -> Add New and uploading a file.

Thanks for your very quick response.
I installed Chrome and i was able to upload into my media library with no problems “yay”, so i tried my usual browser firefox and still get http error when up loading to my media library.

I have just installed the latest version of iOS 8 😄.2 I think and everything is good to go. Thank you to those people that told me to upload through the app cos that worked too.

I haven’t been able to pin down a cause for this or reproduce on my side. We haven’t seen any other reports either. Can you let me know if this is still happening for you?

I don’t know what to do anymore !
I try to upload photos while creating a new post – upload to this post_ with Firefox or Safari and it doesn’t work. I got help from Daniel in wordpress, he was great , but the problem continues. I can only upload on 3G from my phone. I keeps saying “HTTP error”
Now I’m also trying to see my stats and all disappears.

I have had this issue with Firefox on a PC – the workaround was to upload larger files with IE & select individual (not drag & drop) – have not gotten back to do some more testing – drag and drop on smaller (under 250k I think) images and Firefox seems to work OK
