HTTP response code 503

Hi, I am Cindy, the Technology Coordinator here. 2 of my users are having problems logging into our WordPress admin site to work. One user, Anna Vestling, contacted you on Oct 4 and received instructions on how to ‘unlock’…. another user Yen Nguyen cannot get in. Could you figure this issue out for me? Both users have been with us for years, so it was such a surprise they both received this error. The title of the error page is: Your access to this site has been temporarily limited by the site owner. I have not changed anything on our site. Thanks so much!!

Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
Can you let us know what the URL is of the site where you’re having this problem? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.
Thank you!

Some people can reach the site no problem, and some get the error…

Hi there,
We can’t help directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed business hosting. As a result, since we are not your host we don’t have the ability to take a closer look at your site.
Instead your host (Bluehost) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com. Specifically we use a custom login system on WordPress.com for enhanced security, and that system does not output the error message Your access to this site has been temporarily limited by the site owner, which is my other clue you might be hosted with another WordPress provider.
The good news is that while I’m not able to help you directly, I can guide you to the folks you need to reach for help. In this case the error message you mention sounds like it is specific to a security plugin you may have on your site called “Wordfence” as I noticed someone else in the WordPress.org forums mentioning the same issue here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/your-access-to-this-site-has-been-temporarily-limited-by-the-site-owner-2/
You could try the steps that the makers of the Wordfence plugin mention there and see if it helps. Sounds like they are recommending that the plugin be temporarily disabled to allow access. If that does not work you can open up a new thread here in their support forum so they can assist you directly: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wordfence/
Hope this helps point you in the right direction!
